For those of you using Campaign Manager (CM) to traffic campaigns in DV360, we advise you to follow the guidelines for post-view and post-click conversion tracking.
Setting up view-through attribution
Using a CM impression tracker helps with view-through attribution.
Step 1: Export the impression tracker
From the Campaigns dashboard in Campaign Manager, select and export/download the 1×1 tracking tag you want to use for the LiveIntent ad.
Step 2: Copy the URL in the impression tracker
Copy the URL from the impression tracking tag that you’ve exported.

Step 3: Paste the URL in the impression tracker
Paste the URL into the Impression tracking URL 1 field during the creative setup in Campaign Manager.
Setting up click-through attribution
Using a Campaign Manager dynamic click tracker helps with click-through attribution.
Step 1: Create a NEW 1×1 tracking ad in Campaign Manager
Each Campaign Manager placement needs its own unique tracking ad.
|
Pro Tip
|
|
Heads Up Campaign Manager allows you to create up to 20 unique click event tags in a single campaign. |
Step 2: Create a NEW dynamic click tracker in Campaign Manager
Each Campaign Manager placement needs its own unique dynamic click tracker.
-
Assign to the same placement as the tracking ad you created in Step 1 and use the same landing page URL.
|
Pro Tip Use a naming convention for your 1×1 tracking ads and dynamic click trackers that make it easy to align them. |
Step 3: Download the tags
-
Select the click tracker box in the tag download screen. The tag sheet should include two tabs:
-
Tracking Ads
-
Click Trackers
-
-
From the Click Trackers tab, copy the Click Tracker tag. For example, https://ad.doubleclick.net/ddm/clk/427102793;228967622;o
Step 4: Paste the dynamic click tracker into the click event tag field
-
Within Google Campaign Manager, click on your campaign and open the Click event tags under campaign properties.
-
Select Campaign Tags and then New click event tag.
-
Paste the dynamic click tracker you copied at the end of Step 3 into the Tag URL field and add a question mark (?) to the end of the click tracker.
Remember to use a naming convention for the click event tag that makes it easy to assign it to the corresponding placement.
More information is available on the Campaign Manager Help Center.
Step 5: Assign the newly created click event tag to the 1×1 tracking ad
-
Open up the 1×1 tracking ad you created in Step 1. Within the click event tags section, select the newly created dynamic click tracker you created in Step 2 (Google calls it a click tag).
-
Be sure to click the Override parent click tag and only assign the click tag associated with the 1×1 tracking ad placement from the ad group. Otherwise, conversions cannot be attributed to the correct placements.
-
Save the ad.
-
To quickly QA your setup after completing all of the necessary steps, copy and paste the click tag from the 1×1 tracking ad into your browser. If it redirects to the desired landing page URL, you should be good to go!
|
Heads Up You may see duplicate click numbers in your DV360 reports.
Post-click conversions will not be duplicated in Campaign Manager. |
