How to Create a Single-Version Email Campaign

Setting up a new email campaign in the ZMP is straight forward. For this guide, we'll be making a basic, single-version broadcast campaign using our previously made segment and content. Make sure those steps are completed prior to moving on to creating a campaign.

It's important to remember that in the spirit of marketing automation and reduced repetition, creating segments and master templates for your email marketing efforts should only be part of the initial lift and can/should be reused in the future as much as possible.

Initial Setup

1. Click Campaigns on the left side panel, and select Broadcast.

2. Click on New Campaign in the upper-right corner.

3. Input a campaign name based on any naming convention you utilize today.

4. Select the Launch Type as Broadcast at a specific time on the Campaign Settings tab.

5. Navigate to the Content & Audience tab and select Email as the Type. The campaign will autosave as a draft.

1. On the Content & Audience tab, select the Audience for your campaign by clicking into the Include field and selecting your previously created segment.

2. If you want to exclude certain users from getting the email, select the list/segment that they are a part of in the Exclude field.

1. On the Content & Audience tab, leave the A/B Test off and in it's default status.

2. In the From field, select the sender email address.

3. There are more options to modify the header further by setting a specific Reply To along with the option to add a CC/BCC.

4. Add a catchy subject line and custom preheader text.

5. Get fancy with some basic first name personalization using the following tag ahead of your subject line: {{ first_name | capitalize | default: "Valued Customer" }}

6. To add content, click Add / Edit Content.

7. Select Choose Template from the drop-down, locate a previously created template, and click Use this Template.

8. This creates a copy of the master template you already made. Any further modifications made to this new content will not change your master template and vice versa.

9. If External Link tracking is required, the ZMP can automatically append any parameter and value to any whitelisted domain which can be configured in the Settings.

Tags are an optional portion of the campaign set up to help you categorize your campaigns for reporting, bench-marking, etc. Existing tags will be suggested with a drop-down menu and any new tags can simply be typed in.

External Campaign Codes are an additional way to add more metadata to the campaign as needed. This information will not be exposed in content so any end-user receiving the campaign won't see these values.

Toggle to the Campaign Settings tab and select your preferred send time, or you can use the default option to have the campaign Send Immediately. Once you’re ready to deploy your campaign, click Activate Campaign in the upper-right corner and it will immediately move into processing and deployment.

If you’d like to send the campaign later, select the Later option and set the date/time the campaign should deploy using the date/time selector. Pay attention to the Summary to get a human-readable summary of what day/time you’ve selected for the account time zone.

Selecting the Mark as a transactional option will ignore the subscription status of the users in your included audience.

Toggling the Set Max Send Rate option will enable throttling/metering for your campaign at your desired rate.

Congrats! You deployed your first campaign out of ZetaHub. While there’s a lot more to learn as it relates to the real-time and automation aspects of the platform, you know have a foundational understanding of The Zeta Marketing Platform.
